Management Associates is a training and consulting firm
dedicated to assisting organizations to develop healthy, unified, productive
workplaces, equipped to meet the needs and challenges of the future.
Through practical, down to earth application of the behavioral sciences,
Management Associates helps both managers and employees to improve the quality of their
decisions, interactions, and performance, leading to more integrated and
effective organizations.
We know that exceptional organizations spring from the
actions of well trained, knowledgeable people, distinguished by the way
they choose to view each other, their jobs, their organization, and the
processes that integrate and unify them all. Our experience in working with a wide
variety of organizations since our founding in 1984 has confirmed our
conviction that these perspectives can be shared, this knowledge can be
taught, and exceptional organizations can be developed. Management
Associates works to bring this knowledge of human relations in the
workplace to organizations large and small.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help organizations become
simultaneously more supportive of the people within them and more
productive for the people outside them. We are committed to helping
develop unified, adaptable, dynamic organizations which consistently meet
the needs of their customers, their employees, and society.
Our Underlying Philosophy
Permeating all our work are two profound convictions:
-
Each of us, as human beings, want our lives to have significance, our
efforts to count, and our existence to have meaning. People want to work,
to produce, to contribute. The key reason for poor work today is a
mismatch between what people want from work and what they can expect to
get from it. What people want to contribute far outdistances the
contribution organizations allow them to make when they come to work. This
gap undermines attitudes and commitment and impairs productivity and
service.
-
The success of an organization is determined
by far more than the skills, talents, and capacities of the
individuals within it. An organization's ultimate success is a result
of the degree to which people transcend their individual excellence
to create interpersonal synergy and achieve collective excellence.
An organization's success has as much to do with how the people
work in relationship with each other as it does with how
effectively they function individually in their
technical/professional roles.
We believe the major challenge facing most organizations is to adopt more
realistic operating assumptions about how human being really work, both
individually and collectively. Once a more accurate understanding of human
behavior is incorporated, organizations can successfully alter behavior and redesign structures to
more effectively
tap the profound collective human potential that exists within them.
In successful organizations individual effort toward the
organization's goals is given voluntarily and enthusiastically. That
freely-given effort creates synergistic organizations that achieve high levels of
productivity, quality, and service. Since these exceptional organizations
are both more productive and healthier places to work, we believe they not
only can but also must be developed.
